Twitter For Teachers

Twitter

Did you know that Twitter is used by hundreds of thousands of educators every day? Edu-tweeps use twitter to find out what's going on and where to find great resources, as well as having a huge network to ask for help. It's the equivalent of the global staff room.

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read each other's updates (known as tweets).

It is currently the fastest growing social network.

Attend this 1 1/2 hour seminar from your office, staffroom, classroom or home and find out how you could be using Twitter in your teaching.

Who should attend: Teachers (from pre-school to tertiary), Professional Developers, Trainers. If you teach in any way, shape or form  you will benefit from this sesminar.

What will be covered:

  • The what, how, why, when and where of Twitter
  • Twitter background
  • Twitter jargon
  • How to create an account
  • How to make your Twitter profile more interesting
  • How to RT and DM
  • What the ‘@’ means?
  • What are friends and followers?
  • How to search for other edu-tweeps to follow
  • How to follow particular topics
  • Back channels at conferences
  • Mobile tweeting
  • Ideas and examples for using with students
  • Come away with an action plan to incorporate into YOUR teaching

What will you get: 1 1/2 hours of how-tos, practical demonstrations and ideas for using Twitter in your teaching. Access to a recording of the session. Handout and tip-sheets to download and print off.

What you will need: The session will be held online, so you will need a computer with access to the internet. You will also need a headset with mic to get full benefit from the seminar (if you don't have a headset, you will be able to listen and ask questions via chat).

Time Zone Conversion

Standard Cancellation Policy:  We count on advance registration and refunds are not therefore routinely available. Registrants will receive notes from the Webinar following the session and a link to the recording, so if you cannot make it, you will still receive the information.
